Barbara Petersen is a Certified Personal Trainer through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA-CPT). This certification is for those who train clients in one-on-one situations in gyms, fitness centers, private homes or hospital settings. She also has an associate degree in Physical Therapy and a Bachelors degree in Clinical Chemistry/Medical Technology. Barbara has been exercising in gyms for over 30 years with free weights as well as participating in group fitness classes. She has trained and competed in a sprint triathlon and a sprint duathlon. Other interests include golf, running and skiing. Barbara enjoys working with her clients to assist and empower them on their journey toward a healthy lifestyle.
Barbara’s training philosophy is to encourage healthy eating habits, develop creative and challenging fitness routines and create a love for exercise by making it your new way of life. She educates her clients on proper exercise technique and basic nutrition. She draws upon her knowledge of fitness learned from experience, education and seminars attended. Barbara utilizes exercise tools such as stability balls, medicine balls, bands, TRX suspension system and free weights. Each session promises to be a challenge as well as a learning opportunity.
Barbara enjoys working with seniors and has earned a certificate of advanced qualification as a Senior fitness training specialist through the Academy of Health and Fitness. This certificate has broadened Barbara's knowledge base to allow her to safely and effectively train the Baby Boomers and beyond. Barbara also maintains her CPR certification.
