Barbara Petersen is a Certified Personal Trainer through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA-CPT). This certification is for those who train clients in one-on-one situations in gyms, fitness centers, private homes or hospital settings. She also has an associate degree in Physical Therapy and a Bachelors degree in Clinical Chemistry/Medical Technology. Barbara has been exercising in gyms for over 20 years utilizing free weights as well as participating in group fitness classes. She has trained and competed in a sprint triathlon and a sprint duathlon. Other interests include golf, running and skiing. Barbara enjoys working with her clients to assist and empower them on their journey toward a healthy lifestyle.
Barbara’s training philosophy is to encourage healthy eating habits, develop creative and challenging fitness routines and create a love for exercise by making it your new way of life. She educates her clients on proper exercise technique and basic nutrition. Her routines draw upon techniques adopted from pilates, plyometrics, agility and resistance training, to name a few. Barbara utilizes exercise tools such as stability balls, medicine balls, bands and free weights. Each session promises to be a challenge as well as a learning opportunity.
